John Carroll ran into a buzzsaw Saturday afternoon at the Carlton Courts, falling to Case Reserve, 9-0, in a non-conference match staged between the two Cleveland area rivals.
Case Reserve, which was coming off a win over Division I Butler in its most recent match last week, won three tight doubles matches (all either 8-5 or 8-6), then rolled to straight set wins in five of the six singles matches. Only Matt Tomayko extended his match to three sets at #3 singles, falling to Rohan Patel by a 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 score.
John Carroll falls to 4-6 with the loss while Case Reserve improves to 5-9.
