There are tennis matches were doubles play can dictate how the rest of the contest will progress.

John Carroll's match Friday against Heidelberg went against type.

After three closely fought doubles matches, the Blue Streaks won all six singles matches in straight sets to blank Heidelberg, 9-0, in an Ohio Athletic Conference contest held at Purvis Park in University Heights.

Maria Cicciolini and Meredith Skaggs would outlast Amanda Hanning and Morgan Harrigan, 8-6, in the #1 bout.  Amy Marchlen and Anna Navatsyk had the largest margin of victory in doubles play with a win over Elizabeth Kurtzman and Emily Naugle by an 8-5 count at #2.

Ashley Bauer and Deanna Bouchahine had to go to a tiebreaker to win their #3 doubles match, getting past Kayla Gerber and Darcy Young. Bauer and Bouchahine won the tiebreak by a 7-4 score.

In singles play, John Carroll would drop just 21 games total over six matches. That included a win by Allison Mora, who was making her singles debut.
