John Carroll Volleyball Gets Back To Winning Ways With Sweep of Wilmington

Charlotte Sykora had a solid day with nine kills to help the Blue Streaks sweep Wilmington

Suffering through its longest losing streak of the season, the John Carroll volleyball team simply needed a victory to brighten its collective mood.

A sweep of Ohio Athletic Conference foe Wilmington College on the road Saturday was just the elixir the Blue Streaks needed.

JCU was methodical in its triumph over the Quakers, committing just six errors all afternoon in posting wins of 25-10, 25-16, 25-11.  Ironically, their best effort was in their closest game, when they produced 15 kills against just two errors in 31 attempts for a .419 percentage.

Charlotte Sykora led the attack with nine kills, while Melanie Rodriguez supplied 12 digs. Meredith McDiarmid picked up 30 assists, closing to within 57 assists of 4,000.

John Carroll is now 14-9 overall and 2-1 in the OAC, snapping a five-match skid. Wilmington falls to 4-14 overall and 0-4 in the OAC.
