Ryan Mullaney (Chicago, IL, Nazareth Academy) got the ball rolling with a 6-3 6-1 win over Bobby Lochotzki at #1, while
Alex Millar (Akron, OH, Revere) and
Chad Ruehs (Poland, OH, Poland Seminary) followed suit at #2 and #3, respectively. Millar and Ruehs dropped just five games between them.
Michael Hulseman (Winnetka, IL, Loyola Academy) won by a closer 6-3 6-3 score over Dylan Booth at #4 singles.
Two seniors reached milestones with their singles wins.
Ross Venzke (Holland, OH, Toledo St. John's) at #5 won his 50th career match while
Matt Tomayko (Solon, OH, Solon) brought home win number 60.
JCU is now 5-6 overall and 5-3 (4th) in the OAC. Heidelberg slips to 5-10 overall and 3-4 (6th) in league play.
If John Carroll can beat tenth place Wilmington on the road Saturday, the Blue Streaks would be guaranteed to host an OAC Tournament quarterfinal round match.
