Senior Adam Jenkins was selected as an Academic All-OAC Baseball winner for the 2010 season, and was joined on the list of honorees by two of his John Carroll teammates.
In a vote of the faculty athletics representatives from the ten member schools, Jenkins was tabbed as an Academic All-OAC winners, while senior Tim O'Brien and junior Johnny Hastings received honorable mention status.
Jenkins, who majors in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and carries a 3.57 grade point average, is making his second appearance in as many years on the Academic All-OAC winners list. A pitcher, Jenkins worked out of the bullpen and made 12 appearances in 2010, forging a 2-1 record with a 4.96 ERA.
O'Brien, a three-year starter in the outfield, had a solid 2010 campaign in which he batted .313 with 31 runs scored and 25 RBI. O'Brien is a Biology major with a cumulative grade point average of 3.30.
Hastings, who was honorable mention Academic All-OAc in 2009 as well, is a three-year starter at shortstop. In 2010, Hastings batted .322 and stole a team-high ten bases. He is a Communications major with a 3.52 GPA.
To be eligible for Academic All-OAC, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.25 cumulative grade point, be a starter or key reserve and be in at least her second year of participation in the sport.
