Each day that the John Carroll Football Team is on its journey to and from France, Blue Streak junior Luke Whitworth will correspond through jcusports.com. His reports will be posted as soon as they are received. This is day two - jour dans le pays (a day in the country)

Day two turned out to be a remarkable day for us overseas. We landed in Paris around 11:00 am and immediately hopped on our bus toward Caen, France. 

It was here where we were introduced to our British tour guide, Richard, who will be with us the entire trip. Richard has already proven his value as he is very useful to have around when it comes to translations and knowing where to go. He tried to give us a brief lesson in French, but I am not sure how well we all did considering we all got lost at our first rest stop trying to get food. 

The majority of the afternoon was spent in travel mode, as our bus ride from Paris to Caen lasted just over three hours.  

We did get the opportunity to sight see today. We took a journey through history, as we spent a few hours at the Musée Memorial de la Bataille de Normandie. The central theme of the museum deals with the military and human history of the Battle of Normandy, of the D-Day Landing, and the events that led up to them. It was a great thing for us to visit this memorial today because tomorrow we will be going to the beaches and memorials. It is important to have good background information before the moving experience we are sure to endure tomorrow. 

After the memorial we made our way to our hotel in Caen and ate dinner at nearby restaurant, "La Neustrie". It was a great cap to the day and we are all looking forward for tomorrow with the beaches and our first practice on foreign soil in the evening.
