Ryan Pacyga had four RBI, including a three-run homer, as part of JCU's 25th win of the year
On a day where John Carroll seemingly had nothing to play for, the Blue Streaks still managed to make history.
With a split against host Wilmington on Sunday -- 9-7 win in game one, followed by a 9-7 loss in game two -- JCU managed to tie a program record for most victories in a single season.
Box Scores: Game One / Game Two
In its victory in the opener, John Carroll had a 6-2 lead erased when Wilmington scored five runs in the fourth. But Tom Hickey and Ryan Pacyga each came up with RBI in the fifth, and Hickey homered in the seventh tocomplete the comeback.
Pacyga and Tim O'Brien also homered in the first game.
Joe Bossard earned the game one win, while Michael Eden earned his sixth save. The win was JCU's 25th of the year, matching the 25 wins posted by the 1998 team that set the school record.
The Blue Streaks pounded out 15 hits in game two, but stranded 13 base runners in a 9-7 loss. The Quakers scored four runs in the seventh in what proved to be the decisive frame.
JCU completes the regular season with a record of 25-14 overall and 12-6 in the OAC. The Blue Streaks finished in sole possession of third place in the league standings, and will be the #3 seed in the upcoming OAC Tournament.
