Women's Soccer Suffers Overtime Heartbreak In Second Consecutive Match

JCU senior keeper Molly Gradowski made eight saves against Cortland State

A cruel fate awaited the John Carroll women's soccer team for a second consecutive day, as the Cortland State Red Dragons scored the lone goal of the match in overtime to defeat the Blue Streaks, 1-0 in the consolation game of the RIT Rachel Miller memorial Tournament Sunday in Rochester, New York.

Box Score

JCU had suffered a similar defeat in the opening round Saturday as host RIT had a golden goal in the first overtime period for a 2-1 decision over the Streaks.

In Sunday's match-up, JCU was outshot by 15-4 in regulation and 2-1 in the first overtime, but still managed to force a second extra period.

Cortland State wasted no time in the second period, as the winning goal was tagged by Bridgette DeSantis just 53 seconds after the restart.

Molly Gradowski stopped eight shots for the Blue Streaks, who fell to 0-3 with the loss.

A pair of freshmen, Genny Goergen and Kayla Acklin , were named to the all-tournament team from the Blue Streaks roster
