John Carroll was able to see first hand this past weekend the kind of roll Ohio Northern was capable of getting on. 

At the Budd Whitehill Duals Friday and Saturday in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, JCU and ONU were part of the 20-team field that competed over two days at Lycoming College. Seeded fifth, the Polar Bears were able to reach the championship bout before losing to #15 ranked College of New Jersey. 

In the same tournament, unseeded John Carroll had posted a record of 2-2, just missing a berth in the final eight.

Tuesday night in Ada, the two teams split the first four matches before Ohio Northern got on a roll and pulled from John Carroll for a 26-9 victory.

Kevin Nycz (Parma, OH, Holy Name) was a 3-2 winner at 133 pounds, while Ken Locsei (Willoughby, OH, South) continued his impressive start as a Blue Streaks with an 8-1 win at 149.

Over the final six matches, however, only Bryan Steinmetz (Port Washington, WI, Port Washington) pulled out a win, doing so by a 12-9 count at 184 pounds.

Both Greg Ryan (Warren, OH, Howland) (141) and Connor Suba (Middleburg Heights, OH, St. Edward) (157) lost one-point decisions at their respective weight classes.

Ohio Northern is now 9-3 overall and 1-1 in the OAC, while JCU slips to 3-5 overall and 0-2 in league matches.
