Nick Grady (Cleveland, OH, St. Ignatius) and
Max Wilberding (Stuart, FL, John Carroll) were all smiles as the final home of their careers wrapped up at Johnson Natatorium -- not just because they successfully immersed their coaching staff in the diving well but also because they went out winners.
A show of force by the John Carroll men's swimming & diving program produced a 138-84 victory over visiting Hiram College Saturday

Long before head coach Matt Lenhart gleefully was submerged in celebration, his team went to work on lapping the Terriers. A loss in the 200 Medley relay was long forgotten after
Jimmy Ranallo (Willoughby, OH, Notre-Dame Cathedral Latin) won the 1000 Free (10:31.60),
Drew Edson (Birmingham, MI, Brother Rice ) won the 200 Free (1:47.73) and
Alex Vereshchagin (Solon, OH, Solon) won the 50 Free (22.27).
Wilberding helped JCU sweep the top three places in the latter event.
Brendan Carey (Chicago, IL, Mount Carmel) and
Stanton Kochanek (Pittsburgh, PA, Mt. Lebanon) kept the winning streak alive with with victories in the 200 IM and 1-meter diving, respectively.
After another Vereshchagin win in the 100 Free, JCU led by a 94-50 count and never looked back.
Brennan Schloendorn (Westlake, St. Ignatius) won in the 100 Back, after which Edson, Ranallo and Grady put the finishing touches on the team win by sweeping the top three places in the 500 Free.
With the win, John Carroll improves to 4-6 on the year.
