Streaks Get Even With An Impressive Shutout In Conference Opener

Jerry Rubino and the Blue Streaks cleared another hurdle to get back to .500 for the season
Box Score A shutout win on the road in a conference opener is quite an accomplishment. But for the John Carroll men's soccer team, its 3-0 win at Otterbein was about getting even.

"Getting even" had nothing specifically to do with Otterbein -- but the win helped John Carroll climb out of is early season hole caused by a 1-4 start and level its record at 5-5 after ten matches.

Box Score

It didn't take long for John Carroll to get started. Less than two minutes into the match, Wycliffe Odhiambo took advantage of the Cardinals' failure to clear a corner kick and scored his sixth goal of the season.

Less than 20 minutes later, he scpred his seventh thanks to a Brian Potoncik pass.

Ahead 2-0, JCU would ice the match in the 83rd minute when Potoncik was the recipient of another nice pass, this one from Liam Switalksi.

John Carroll, which is now 5-5 and 1-0 in league play, won its Ohio Athletic Conference opener thanks to an aggressive attack that won the shot count by a 21-9 margin.

Otterbein fell to 2-5-2 overall and 0-1 in the OAC with the loss.
