John Carroll Men's Swimming & Diving Gets Even In Veale Classic With Win Over Wooster

Drew Edson had a productive weekend at the 2011 Veale Classic
After opening the 2011 Veale Classic with a loss, John Carroll wanted to get even.

With a 127-96 victory over the College of Wooster in the consolation dual, that is precisely what the Blue Streaks accomplished.

John Carroll had just two wins on Friday night against Case, with Drew Edson taking first in the 200 Free (1:47.55) and Alex Vershchagin tying for first in the 50 Free (21.58). They were hoping for more Saturday against the Fighting Scots.

Edson got it rolling again with a winning time of 10:49.64 in the 100 Free. Eric Davis followed it up by leading a 1-2-3 sweep in the 200 Free. Davis touched first in 1:50.83, and was followed to the wall by David Sved and Xavier Augustyniak.

After a Charles Vaughn win in the 1-meter diving event, Vereshchagin (47.73) and Edson 948.93) went 1-2 in the 100 free.

Michael Ian Goggins claimed victory in the 500 Free (5:09.24), and the Streaks capped the day with a victory in the 400 free Relay as Sved, Edson, Kyle Cassidy and Vereshchagin swam the race in 3:23.57.

John Carroll is now 2-2 on the year.
