Nick Holvey was part of John Carroll's resurgence that led to a home-opening victory against Mount Union
Matt Lenhart was not oblivious to the story within the story of his team's 128.5-102.5 victory over Mount Union in the home opener for his Blue Streak men's swimming & diving team Friday night at Johnson Natatorium.

Were it not for 26 points from two unopposed divers in the 1- and 3-meter events, the meet would have ended in a tie.
At the same time, there was a juncture in the meet where his team seemed in danger of needing those 26 points just to win period.
"To say we didn't start well would have been understatement," said the JCU head coach. "Thankfully, some of our leaders stepped up and got us going back in the right direction."
Mount Union started the meet by posting wins in the first three races and taking a 37-18 lead.
Alex Vereshchagin stemmed the tide with a win in the 50 Free (22.09), which was followed by a 1-2 sweep in the 200 IM by
Nick Holvey (2:07.99) and Michael Ian Goggins (2:08.12).
Eric Davis turned in a solid win in the 200 Fly (2:06.56), while Goggins was on the front of another 1-2 sweep in the 200 Breast. Goggins was first in 2:19.92, while fellow frosh Zach Tomsick was second in 2:24.63.
JCU won the final race of the night as
Drew Edson,
David Sved, Davis and Vereshchagin won by almost eight full seconds in the 400 Free Relay (3:16.59).
Divers
John Reynolds and Charles Vaughn earned valuable points on the 1- and 3-meter boards. Reynolds placed first on the lower board while Vaughn took top honors on the high plank.
JCU improved to 1-1 overall and 1-1 in the OAC with the win.
