The last time John Carroll and Ohio Northern faced each other in women's tennis, the Blue Streaks pulled off a thrilling 5-4 win.

On Saturday at the Paramount Tennis Club in Medina, the two teams met again for the first time since that Ohio Athletic Conference tournament quarterfinal, and the score was once again 5-4.

Only this time, Ohio Northern was the victor.

In doubles play, only the the #1 team of Maria Ciccolini (Green, OH, Green High School) and Cassie Simmelink (Avon Lake, OH, Avon Lake) garnered a point for the Blue Streaks, as the duo dispatched of Michelle Tuma Carly Olmstead by an 8-3 count.

In singles play, both Ciccolini and Simmelink were victorious again. both winning in straight sets at #1 and #2, respectively.

The other point John Carroll was able to score came in four singles, where Athena Pappis (Pittsburgh, PA, North Hills) outlasted Christie Gales by a score of 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.

Ohio Northern improves to 8-5 overall and 2-0 in the OAC while JCU fell to 2-9 in its league opener.
