John Carroll started out the campaign 2-9 and have played just one home match outdoors due to the weather. Yet, despite the hurdles placed in their way, the Blue Streaks are finding ways to celebrate their 2011 season.
Another joyous note was struck Tuesday afternoon at the Mayfield Village Racquet Club as JCU rolled past Mount Union by a 7-2 count.

The victory is John Carroll's third in a row, its fourth in the last five matches, and firmly entrenches the Blue Streaks in the top four of the Ohio Athletic Conference standings with three matches remaining against teams with a combined record of 6-18.
Maria Ciccolini and
Cassie Simmelink were victorious at #1 doubles by an 8-4 count, while the #3 tandem of
Deanna Bouchahine and
Allison Mora continued their winning ways with an 8-1 victory.
They are now 5-1 as a team this season.
In singles play, two of John Carroll's three seniors prevailed in their final regular season home match. Bouchahine won at #6 singles by a 7-5 6-0 score, while
Ashley Bauer -- playing in the #3 spot -- won a marathon match in which she and Mount's Courtney Adamski split a pair of tiebreakers to force a tiebreaker. It took 20 points to settle, but Bauer came out on top, 11-9.
Ciccolini at #1, Simmelink at #2 and
Emily Gorndt at #5 all won in straight sets.
John Carroll is now 6-10 on the year and 4-2 (4th) in the OAC. Mount Union falls to 7-8 and 4-3 (5th) in league play.
