John Carroll had been bounced from the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament in the semifinal round for four consecutive years, and all four times at the hands of Ohio Northern.
This year, the Blue Streaks did the bouncing.
Second-seeded John Carroll worked over third-seeded Otterbein for a 5-1 victory to set up an OAC title match Saturday with none of ther than host and top seed Ohio Northern.

In making their first return trip to the OAC final since winning the championship in 2006, the Blue Streaks swept the doubles bouts. Ryan Mullaney and Chad Ruehs won a hard-fought match over Steven Albert and Philipp Caprasse by an 8-6 score. The #3 tandem of Michael Hulesmann and Rico Certo also had to go deep to pull out an 8-6 win.
Only Matthieu Mennard and Sean Graham had a relatively easy time in posting an 8-3 win at #2 doubles.
In singles play, Mathieu won quickly at #1 singles to put JCu within a single point of closing out the match.
Otterbein registered its lone point with a win at #6 singles, but Ryan Mullaney sealed the victory with a 6-4 6-1 win at #2 singles.
John Carroll has now won nine consecutive matches and is 13-6 on the season.
