Women's Swimming & Diving Takes The Sprints To Draw Even With Oberlin

Karyn Adams won an individual event and a relay for the Blue Streaks Friday night.
On a night when the middle distances had the John Carroll women's swimming & diving team desperately treading water, the Blue Streaks engineered a surge in the 50 and 100-Yard Freestyle, as well as the 100-Yard Backstroke to finish in a tie, 107-107, with Oberlin College.

The Blue & Gold commenced the evening on a strong note, winning the 400-Yard Medley Relay behind a team of Julia Adams, Melissa Fillmore, Karyn Adams, and Victoria Watson (4:15.27).  Rachel Libertin scored a second straight Blue Streak victory with a 11:05.21 first place finish in the 1,000-Yard Freestyle.

After momentarily falling behind, John Carroll made hay in the sprints to achieve the final tie.  Karyn Adams (25.93) and Victoria Watson (26.19) finished first and second, respectively, in the 50-Yard Freestyle.  Watson went on to win the 100-Yard Freestyle (56.27), as well.

Julia Adams scored a victory in the 100-Yard Breaststroke (1:02.71) to help secure the tie.  Brittany Krauth finished second in that race with a time of 1:04.16.

The Blue Streaks will set their sights on a victory tomorrow as they travel to Hiram College to face off with the Terriers at 1:00 p.m.
