Maureen Creighton had a strong showing in her individual event as well as a part of a relay at the SPIRE North Coast Open Saturday in Geneva, Ohio.
Buoyed by a multitude of top ten finishes in the 5,000-meter run, the indoor track & field season got off to a strong start for the John Carroll women's team at the SPIRE North Coast OpenSaturday in Geneva, Ohio.
Results
Five Blue Streaks placed in the top ten of the 5,000-meter event, led by
Anna Busta who finished fifth in 18:54.63, and
Bridget Hanna, who was sixth in 18:58.87.
Also finishing in the top ten were
Melissa Vinci, 8th in 19:48.94; Rachael Gruber, 9th in 20:12.41; and
Lauren DeLuca, 10th in 20:16.11.
JCU also had a top ten finisher in the one mile run, as Gab Kreuz was ninth in 5:21.67.
John Carroll's success was not limited to the distance events.
Maureen Creighton was ninth in the 400-meter dash (1:02.99) and
Nicki Bohrer took fifth in the 800-meter run (2:22.68).
Creighton, Kreuz and Bohrer were also part of a 4 x 400 relay that included
Danielle Sample as its anchor, and the quartet finished fifth in 4:13.40.
Two Blue Streaks also placed high in the triple jump. Sample was fifth with a distance of 10.43 meters (34-02 3/4) while
Cassandra Figueroa was eighth with a mark of 9.98 meters (32-09)
