John Carroll grabbed its elusive first OAC win of the season in the Streaks' 2012 finale

Melanie Rodriguez. The young Blue Streaks gave their only senior the most appropriate sendoff possible...a 3-0 home win.
The first set was dominated by John Carroll who went on the offensive early. The Blue Streaks went on a 7-2 run that started an aggressive sequence which continued throughout the set. With the taste of victory on their collective tongues, John Carroll countered the minor attacks Wilmington sent their way and defeated the Quakers 25-13.
Wilmington fought back late in game two, making the Streaks work hard for their second “W” of the match. Wilmington sent John Carroll on several runs deep into the set. After surviving various surges, JCU held on to take game two from the Quakers, 25-19.
In set three ,Wilmington did not concede.
Despite a big John Carroll lead, the Quakers roared back with seven consecutive points to take a 24-23 lead and a set point opportunity. However, with a resilient spark provided by
Charlotte Sykora, John Carroll continued to match set point until breaking through for a 29-27 win to finish the match in straight sets.
Sykora lead the team with 14 kills in the match, while a host of her teammates provided big plays down the stretch to clinch the school's first OAC win in 2012.
The Blue Streaks close out the season with their 11th victory. Overall, the squad finishes 11-18 and 1-8 in the OAC.
