Long Day For Men's Tennis Ends In 6-3 Loss To Cardinals

Ryan Mullaney was 2-for-2 in the #1 spot for the Blue Streaks against the Cardinals
Despite wins from its top singles player and doubles team, the John Carroll men's tennis team was unable to maintain any momentum in a 6-3 loss to Otterbein University Saturday in Westerville, Ohio.

Junior Ryan Mullaney did all he could for the Blue Streaks, playing a vital role in two of JCU's three wins against the Cardinals.  He defeated Ryan Roberts 6-4, 6-1 in the #1 singles match, before teaming up with fellow junior Rico Certo to take the #1 doubles match by an 8-4 margin.

Freshman Peter Scanniello was the other victor for the Blue & Gold, defeating Otterbein's Dustin Goldman by a score of 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (5-0) in #6 singles.

Michael Hulseman put forth a valiant effort in #3 singles, taking the Cardinals' Ryan Shutt into three sets, before bowing out, 7-6 (4-0), 2-6, 6-0.

The team loss drops John Carroll to 4-10, 2-3 in the OAC, while Otterbein improves to 5-10, 3-2 in conference.
