John Carroll, the number two seed, rolled to a 5-0 victory in the quarterfinal round of the Ohio Athletic Conference women's tennis tournament Tuesday afternoon over seventh-seeded Capital.
Fittingly, the two senior Blue Streaks provided the clinching points.

John Carroll was fast out of the gate in dominating the doubles competition. the #2 tandem of
Tracy Gibson and
Joanne Weber made quick work of Michelle Guy and Collyn Weaver, winning by a shutout (8-0). Not far behind was the duo of
Hannah Baumwell and
Erin Davies, who won by an 8-1 score over Corrine Hohenstein and Rebecca Hunt.
Seniors
Maria Ciccolini and
Cassie Simmelink capped the session with an 8-3 win at the #1 spot over Elisabeth McLaughlin and Alyssa Trier.
With the first team to reach five points clinching the match and moving on, the Blue Streaks needed just two singles wins to book their trip to Cincinnati for the semifinal round. Simmelink, the reigning OAC Player of the Week, was the first off the court with a 6-1 6-1 win in the #2 match. Ciccolini than wrapped it up with a 6-0 6-0 victory at #1.
Weber (#3), Davies (#4) and Gibson (#6) all finished wins within minutes of Ciccolini to put an exclamation point on the win, and Baumwell finished her match at #5 to cap the sweep.
JCU is now 13-3 overall and will face #3 seed Otterbein in the OAC Tournament semifinals on Friday, May 4, at 1:00 pm. this is John carroll's third consecutive year in which it has reached the semifinals at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.
