There was no suspense in the 2012 NCAA Division III Championship selection show for John Carroll. The Blue Streaks punched an automatic bid into the field of 61 with their Ohio Athletic Conference tournament title Saturday.

The only drama left would be who they would play in the opening round and where.

With the team assembled in the Herb Eisele Blue-Gold Room to watch the show,it was announced that the Blue Streaks would be the #5 seed in the Alma (MI) regional bracket, and would face fourth seeded University of Chicago.

John Carroll, 30-13 on the year, is making its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament beginning Thursday, May 10. The Blue Streaks will face Chicago, members of the University Athletic Association who completed the 2012 regular season with a 24-9 record, in the opening round at 12 noon at Alma's Scots Park.

A total of eight regionals will be conducted using a double elimination format to determine the eight teams that will advance to the Division III national championship finals. The national championship will be staged in Salem, Virginia, May 18-22.
