Four Blue Streaks Star on All-NCAC Softball Team

JCU's four all-conference honorees are the most for the program since 2015

CLEVELAND – A strong initial season in the North Coast Athletic Conference has yielded postseason accolades for John Carroll Softball. 

A quartet of Blue Streaks made the NCAC's all-conference teams for softball. This marks the first season with four all-conference honorees for JCU Softball since 2015.

Melissa Smith, Jordan Anderson, Elizabeth Hohlefelder, and Brynne Smith earned All-NCAC recognition after JCU's great inaugural season in the North Coast Athletic Conference. All are first time all-conference players. 

Full NCAC Teams

Graduate student Jordan Anderson was named to the All-NCAC First Team after an exceptional season with the Blue Streaks. The pitcher/utility recorded an ERA of 2.56 and a batting average of .448 (.510 in NCAC play) with a whopping 36 RBIs, tied for sixth most in a season in program history, and 7 homers, tied for seventh. Anderson's 27 RBIs in NCAC play led the league. The Alliance native ranked fifth in the NCAC for batting average, second for slugging percentage, seventh for on base percentage, fourth for RBIs, and second for home runs. Without a doubt, Anderson's season was one to behold. 

Senior catcher Melissa Smith earned First Team All-NCAC honors after a stellar final season with the Blue Streaks. The Williamsville, New York native notched 16 RBIs of 16 with a batting average of .271. The Finance major tallied 6 homers, including five vs. NCAC foes. Her skills behind the backstop made her a key cog on the defensive side of things. 

Sophomore infielder Elizabeth Hohlefelder earned Third Team All-NCAC honors after a standout season with the Blue Streaks. The Dublin, Ohio native finished with a batting average of .370 and 10 RBIs. The Accounting major finished with a team-high 27 runs and 40 hits, second only to Anderson.

Lastly, first year infielder Brynne Smith was named to the Third Team. The Eastlake native finished the year with a batting average of .349 and 9 RBIs. The Data Science major finished the year ranked first in the NCAC in on-base percentage, aided by her team-best 8 hit by pitches.
