Anderson becomes the first JCU Softball player to be so honored since 2013

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTSFor the first time in 13 years, a John Carroll Softball student-athlete has achieved one of the highest honors in college athletics.

Jordan Anderson is a College Sports Communicators Academic All-America® selection.

Anderson garnered Third Team recognition, marking the program's first Academic All-American since Mackenzie Griffin in 2013. Anderson becomes just the sixth Academic All-America honoree via CSC (formerly CoSIDA) in program history.

"I am incredibly honored to be named an Academic All-American," said Anderson. "This would not have been possible if it weren't for my teammates, coaches, family, and other support staff at JCU. I am grateful I was able to represent John Carroll as I competed in my last year of collegiate softball."

Anderson adds arguably the crown jewel to quite the glittering resume. The graduate student starred very bright in her lone season on the diamond for JCU Softball.

The First Team All-North Coast Athletic Conference selection primarily played the infield and added plenty of innings in the circle. Whenever and wherever needed, the Alliance native provided star power.

At the dish, Anderson logged a .436 batting average with 18 extrabase hits, including a whopping 8 homers. She topped the team with an impressive 44 RBIs.

The George Mason transfer excelled as a pitcher, too, accumulating a 2.56 ERA in 54.2 innings of work. A dominant southpaw, Anderson notched 71 strikeouts.

Anderson achieved a great GPA while pursuing her Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. With her eligibility now completed, Anderson will join the coaching staff as an assistant coach.

"Jordan is one of those students who leaves a positive impact on every environment she enters," said Visiting Assistant Professor Logan Vess, Ph.D. "Throughout her time in our Clinical Mental Health Counseling program, she consistently demonstrated professionalism, empathy, and a genuine commitment to helping others. What has impressed me most is her ability to carefully balance the significant demands of being a collegiate student-athlete while remaining fully engaged in her academic and professional development.

"Jordan brings thoughtfulness, authenticity, and leadership to the classroom, and she has shown tremendous growth as both a counselor-in-training and a person. She is the kind of student who elevates those around her through her work ethic, compassion, and willingness to support her colleagues. This recognition is incredibly well deserved!"

Anderson adds this prestigious award alongside her Third Team NFCA All-Region honor, as she became the first Blue Streak in seven years to make the All-Region cut.
