For the second straight game a Blue Streak scored a hat trick as the John Carroll University men's soccer team continued its fireworks display with its second straight six-goal output in a 6-0 rout over host Geneva College on Tuesday evening in Beaver Falls, Pa.

Kevin McKamish netted the three goals in his first multi-goal game as the Blue Streaks improved to 7-2.

"Our offense has really been playing well the last two games with Brian Potocnik leading the way for us," said head coach Hector Marinaro. "Going into last night, I asked them to focus on the defensive end and the offensive end will take care of itself. As a team, last night was one of the best all-around games we have played at both ends of the field. It's nice to go into our conference season after a performance like last night's. Now, the real games start and I feel the team is excited and ready for the OAC season."

Geneva put the Blue Streaks on the board in the 14th minute with an own goal and the Blue Streak strikers took over from there.

The red-hot Brian Potocnik slid his first of two goals in the contest past Geneva goalkeeper Bryan Butler in the 29th minute. Potocnik has now scored a goal in four straight games.

Later in the opening half, McKamish beat Butler in a one-on-one situation for his first goal of the day to push the lead to 3-0 in the 38th minute.

After taking the three-goal lead into halftime, the Blue Streaks pushed their advantage to 4-0 in the 66th minute with Michael Melfi set up Potocnik's final goal of the contest. Three minutes later Melfi dished to McKamish to push the lead to five.

The final goal of the night came in the 73rd minute when Karol Boryka found the electrifying McKamish off of a corner kick. The goal capped a dominant day for John Carroll, which finished with a 22-4 edge in shots.

Junior Chris Garbinsky picked up the shutout and turned away two Golden Tornado shots.

John Carroll remains on the road to open up OAC play at Capital University on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m.

Note: John Carroll's first goal (14th minute) was originally credited to Brian Potocnik but was corrected to an own goal by Geneva.
