Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 For the second day in a row, the JCU softball players strapped up their cleats twice, but this time, the Blue Streaks got into the win column via the tail end of a doubleheader with a 7-2 victory over #19 and previously undefeated Moravian College in Clermont, Florida.

Game 1

In the morning contest, John Carroll (1-3) drove a run across the plate in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead against Adrian College (2-3) on an RBI single from Ally Kleinhans.  The Bulldogs stormed back, however, with three runs in the top of the second to take a lead they would never relinquish in a 6-4 Adrian win.

Trailing 6-2 in the seventh inning, the Blue & Gold got RBIs from Trisha Pike and Lia Locey to pull within two, but could not come all the way back.

Colleen Brady, Erica Chiudioni, and Kleinhans each had two hits to lead JCU.

Game 2

With an early loss added to a pair of defeats from Monday, John Carroll needed a spark to overcome nationally ranked Moravian College in the day's second game.  And thanks to 10 hits and a stifling pitching performance from Rachel Byrnes, the Blue Streaks erased an early 2-0 deficit to upset the Greyhounds (5-1) by a 7-2 score.

Byrnes went the distance on the mound, striking out four and allowing just two earned runs in 7.0 innings to pick up the win.

Offensively, JCU poured in three runs in both the fourth and sixth innings to break the game open.

First, senior Mackenzie Griffin hit a bases-loaded double, driving in two runs in the fourth.  Her swing was followed by an RBI single from Kleinhans to put Carroll up 4-1.  Then, the Blue & Gold erased any suspense with a trio of runs in the sixth inning on the strength of back-to-back RBI doubles from Colleen Brady and Morgan Robinson.

JCU will attempt to continue its winning ways tomorrow at against Misericordia University and Elizabethtown College at 9:00 and 11:00 a.m., respectively.
