The John Carroll softball team will most certainly will be leaving Florida against their will.

After a slow start to the week, John Carroll rattled off seven consecutive wins to end their time in the Sunshine State with a record of 7-3.

The latest two victims were new arrivals to Clermont, Florida -- Rochester (NY) and Rensellear Polytechnic. The Blue Streaks swiped away the welcome mat with a pair of convincing victories.

Against Rochester, JCU needed just five innings to decide matters. Samantha Becker drove in four runs in support of a one-hitter tossed by Rachel Byrnes as the Blue Streaks won, 8-0. A two-run triple by Becker in the fifth set up a game-ending single by Erica Chiudioni that put the eight-run rule in effect.

Becker and Mackenzie Griffin each had three hits in the contest.

John Carroll's final opponent in Florida was the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) Engineers. Coming off a 27-14 season from a year ago and picked to defend their Liberty League title in the league's pre-season coaches poll, the Engineers were able to tag the Blue Streaks for five runs.

JCU, however, plated seven in the second inning alone on its way to winning the contest by a final count of 10-5.

Griffin and Morgan Robinson each had three hits and Christie Wade had three RBI to pace an offense that amassed ten runs on 15 hits.

In John Carroll's seven wins to close out the trip, the Blue Streaks batted .403 as a team (compared to a combined .206 by the opposition), and outscored their foes by a 55-10 count. JCU had 83 hits while surrendering just 36, and tallied 25 extra base hits.

The JCU pitching tandem of Byrnes and Trish Pike had a combined ERA of 0.93 over those final seven games.
