A particularly tough stretch of the schedule had John Carroll facing two of the top three teams in the league on the road. After nearly picking off Capital on monday, the Blue Streaks tried to do the same at Baldwin Wallace Thursday.
Despite some good play in doubles, an upset was not to be as the host Yellow Jackets rolled to an 8-1 win.
The defending Ohio Athletic Conference champions improved to 21-1 overall and 6-1 in the OAC. JCU drops to 4-12 overall and 3-5 in the OAC.
The lone point secured by the Blue Streaks was earned at #1 doubles, where
Sean Graham and
Ryan Mullaney edged the tandem of Doug Ganim and Peter Harris by a 9-8 score. JCu's top duo won the tiebreaker, 7-5.
The closest a Blue Streak came to winning in singles was
Paul Olexa in the #6 match, as he split two sets with
Brad Minrovic before falling 10-4 in the tiebreaker.
