Looking for its best start to a season since 2008, the John Carroll University men's soccer team dropped a 3-2 double overtime decision to Roanoke College. The Maroons improved to 4-0 while the Blue Streaks dropped to 2-1.
Roanoke College's Robbie Lentine sent the game winner into the back of the net 11 seconds into the second overtime.

The lead did not hold up as Orestis Ilias netted the equalizer 12 seconds later. The Maroons' Mark Dinkel pushed Roanoke ahead with a penalty kick in the 35th minute.
John Carroll mounted a big offensive scoring chance in the 57th minute with shots from
Tyler Nellis,
Brian Potocnik and
Michael Melfi. The Blue Streaks continued the offensive pressure in the 61st minute when
Jimmy Mattina knotted the score at two after cleaning up on a
Liam Switalski header which was stopped by Perry.
JCU continued to apply offensive pressure with shots from
Thor Eriksen and Sharbaugh.
The Blue Streak defense held strong in the closing third of the second half and the first overtime. John Carroll blocked Roanoke College shots in the 76th and 79th minutes and warded off four corner kicks by the Maroons in the first overtime.
Roanoke College finished with a 20-14 advantage in shots and 12-3 edge in corner kicks. The Maroons' added five second half saves.
John Carroll returns home for a three-game stretch beginning with a 7 p.m. contest on Friday, Sept. 13 versus Hiram College.
In addition, the Blue Streaks had three players named to the 2013 Shellenberger Classic All-Tournament team. Senior
