The Blue Streaks won 11 of the 13 events in the dual meet at Hiram.
In search of momentum and with senior day looming the John Carroll University men's swimming and diving team turned a complete performance on Friday evening.
Opening with a convincing win in the 400 medley relay, the Blue Streaks never looked back taking 11 of 13 events in their 148-61 trouncing over the Terriers.
The quartet of
Nick Bockanic, Michael Goggins,
Evan Coury and
Ben Parker had the Blue and Gold rolling from the get-go clocking in at 4:25.87 in the 400 medley relay.
A pair of races came down to the wire between a pair of Blue Streaks. The 50 freestyle featured
Gabe Nock and
Nick Holvey going head-to-head with Nock touching at 24.79 and Holvey at 25.22. The 100 backstroke also had two Blue Streaks going head-to-head to the finish as Bockanic out-touched
Zach Morris by 12 hundredths of a second.
Ben Parker dominated in the mid-distance races claiming wins in the 200 (2:09.09) and 400 freestyles (4:36.20). Joining Parker as a multi-individual event winner was
Douglas Hinchen who scored 131.95 in the 1-meter and 126.15 in the 3-meter diving competitions.
The Blue and Gold picked up three more individual race wins in
Jacob Crain (100 butterfly, 1:08.21),
John Scantling (800 freestyle, 9:46.44) and Holvey (100 freestyle, 56.24).
Goggins fought hard to take the 200 individual medley but Hiram's Danny Essel kept the sophomore junior at bay to pick up one of Hiram's two wins of the evening.
The 400 freestyle relay of Scantling, Morris, Nock and Holvey capped the evening by cruising to a 26-second win.
John Carroll faces a quick turnaround and will host Baldwin Wallace at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Prior to the dual meet, the Blue Streaks will honor their seniors beginning at 12:45 p.m.
