Winning on the road in the Ohio Athletic Conference is a tough feat.
 
The 24th-ranked John Carroll University women's basketball team dropped a tough 73-70 contest on Saturday afternoon in Ada, Ohio.
 
The Polar Bears' Jordan Kimes put Ohio Northern up for good with 1:01 remaining in the second half.
 
Ohio Northern had taken a 59-58 lead with 4:11 remaining in the game but 
Shmoo Pryor answered right back with a field goal of her own to put John Carroll on top 60-59 with 3:46 remaining.
 
The Blue Streaks took the lead with 18:51 remaining in the first half on a field goal from Pryor and would not trail until the 4:11 mark in the second half.
 
The Polar Bears tied the game at 42 but the Blue and Gold responded with a 7-0 run. 
Katie Battaglia capped the run with a 3-pointer. The sophomore would push JCU's lead to 10 with 8:41 remaining in the game on a second 3-pointer.
 
Ohio Northern answered with a 9-0 run to close its deficit to one with 5:36 left in the stanza. 
Meghan Weber would push JCU's led back to three before a 4-0 run by ONU to bring the game to the 4:11 mark.
 
Katlyn Spahar led John Carroll with 16 points. The Blue Streaks had five players in double figures including Battaglia, who would finish with a career-best 15 points. Weber, 
Beth Switzler and 
Emily Taylor all finished with 10 points.
 
Ohio Northern improves to 6-1, 2-0 OAC while John Carroll falls to 6-1, 1-1 OAC.
 
John Carroll remains on the road with a 3 p.m. tilt at Wilmington on Saturday, Dec. 13.
