Box Score The John Carroll men's lacrosse team took a cue from the calendar and entered March roaring like a lion.

In its most explosive offensive effort of the year, the Blue Streaks scored nine goals in the first half on their way to a 16-1 victory over Bethany College Saturday afternoon at Don Shula Stadium.

Whereas defense had marked the month of February with the Blue Streaks playing three close games decided by a total of eight goals, the first day of March had a much different feel.

JCU erupted for four goals in the opening period and led 5-0 in the second before Bethany notched its lone goal.

From there, John Carroll tallied eleven unanswered goals to improve to 3-1 on the year.

Stephen Leous had what may be a standard bearer scoring game in terms of program records, as he unleashed seven goals in the contest.Gary Anile added three for his third hat trick in four games.

Declan O'Grady and Brian Jaszka each scored a pair of goals, while Michael Roth had three assists.

In the crease, starter Brian Bedell had one save and allowed just one goal in his half of work, while fellow frosh Kyle Lake made five saves and pitched a shutout over his 30 minutes.

Kyle Patterson won 17 of a possible 20 faceoffs.

JCU is off for a week until visiting Washington & Jefferson Saturday.
