John Carroll opens OAC play next week Saturday.
In its final contest before OAC play begins the John Carroll University women's tennis team faced stiff competition in Oberlin, the No. 9 team in the region.
The Blue Streaks battled hard but the Yeowomen took the 9-0 decision on Friday afternoon.
Tracy Gibson fought hard at No. 4 singles taking Oberlin's Ariana Abayomi to three sets before falling 4-6, 7-5, 0-1 (9-11). Josephine Miller tried to turn the first set in her favor but was unable to string enough games together as Anna Treidler took the 6-4, 6-2 decision.

Katherine Devine fell 3-6, 3-6.
Anna Stein fell at No. 3 1-6, 1-6 while Catherine Engle (0-6, 1-6) and
Ivana Didovic (1-6, 0-6) both dropped their singles matches.Â

Oberlin started the afternoon by sweeping the doubles points as the JCU pairs of Engel and Devine as well as Didovic and Miller both dropped 8-3 decisions. Oberlin's Brenna Sheldon and Erin Johnson topped Gibson and Stein 8-2 in the second position.
The Blue Streaks fell to 4-6 on the season while the Yeowomen improved to 3-3.
John Carroll travels to Muskingum for a 1 p.m. contest on Saturday, March 22.
