Kyle Mollison was nearly perfect in singles play. The John Carroll University men's tennis team was unstoppable during its 9-0 win over Muskingum at the Oakwood Tennis Facility in Cleveland Heights.

"It's great to get a good start," said assistant coach Dr. Leslie Curtis. "The guys have been working hard and keep improving. It was great to see them working hard for every point out there."

Mollison only dropped one point in his entire singles match cruising to the 6-0, 6-0 decision. Also finishing unblemished was Eric Grimaldi at the No. 6 singles position.

"It was really great for Kyle," said Curtis. "Kyle's been a really great contributor. His doubles play is really terrific and his singles play is coming around. It was really great for him to show that kind of consistency out there."

Mollison teamed with Sean Graham and did not drop a game in doubles play taking the 8-0 victory. Making quick work were the undefeated freshman doubles pairing of Jad Abdul-Aal and Nick Siciliano who won 8-1 over Muskingum's Ben Winland and Gene Montgomery to run their doubles record to 9-0.

Rounding out the doubles sweep were Alex Mihas and Eric Grimaldi who took the 8-2 decision.

Siciliano carried his solid day over to singles play besting Montgomery 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 4 position.

Abdul-Aal topped Muskingum's Cody Engstrom 6-2, 6-2 in first singles while Graham won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Mihas capped the sweep with a 6-1, 6-1 win at fifth singles.

The men's tennis team travels to Wilmington on Saturday, March 29.
