One Goal More Than Enough As Men's Soccer Records First Shutout Of 2014

Karol Boryka tallied the lone goal for John Carroll's 1-0 win over Hiram
Box Score John Carroll dominated play enough Wednesday night at Hiram that one goal proved to be more than enough to win.

Karol Boryka finished off a combo from Dalton Browsky and Brian Potocnik in the box by parking a shot past a drawn out keeper for the game's lone tally in the 30th minute. The goal stood up as the Blue Streaks recorded their first shutout of the 2014 campaign, blanking the host Terriers, 1-0.

At one point this season, Hiram was ranked 16th in the nation and second in the Great Lakes Region.

Derek Jenkins made two saves to post his first career shutout as John Carroll improved to 6-3 on the season. His second save was a diving stop with three minutes remaining to preserve the win and the shutout.

John Carroll won the shots battle 12-3 and had a 5-1 edge in corners as the Blue Streaks recorded their first 1-0 victory since they defeated Lynchburg College on September 7, 2013.

Hiram fell to 5-4 with the loss.
