In a dual meet that came down to the final relay, the John Carroll University men's swimming and diving team came a second short falling to Wilmington 137-132 on Saturday afternoon inside the Johnson Natatorium.

The dual came down to the 400-free relay with Wilmington's Anton Bloomquist, Mason Harris, David Spraul and David Hawk winning a wire-to-wire race touching at 3:16.76. John Carroll's quartet of
Gabe Nock,
John Scantling,
Stephen Attewell and
Brian Hulseman gave a valiant chance touching at 3:17.78 but could not chase down the Fightin' Quakers.

The Blue Streaks began their day placing first in the 200-medley relay. The relay of
Nick Bockanic,
Michael Goggins, Hulseman and Nock clocked a time of 1:40.54.

Goggins carried the team's first-place relay finish over to the individual events, including the 100-breast with a time of 1:02.69 and the 200-breast with a time of 2:19.28.

Individually, Hulseman would also finish in first for the 200-fly (2:01.14) and 100-fly (54.55). Hulseman edged out the second place Fightin' Quaker competition in the 100-fly event by only .02 seconds.

Additionally,
Ben Parker made a first place appearance in the 500-free with a time of 4:59.94.
Douglas Hinchen rounded out the scoring for JCU as he won the 1-meter diving event unopposed.

The Blue Streaks finished the regular season with a record of 5-5, 2-3 OAC.

The team will take part in the OAC Championships to be held February 19-21 at the Ocasek Natatorium on the campus of University of Akron.
