The energy inside the Johnson Natatorium reached incredibly high levels on Saturday afternoon as John Carroll knocked off rival Mount Union by a score of 157-140.
The victory gives JCU a 3-2, 1-1 OAC record while the Purple Raiders fall to 4-1, 1-1 OAC.

The action commenced with the John Carroll 200 Medley Relay team consisting of
Carly Adams,
Lindsey Fano,
Margaret Zagrobelny, and
Emma Connell finishing in first place with a time of 1:52.18. Shortly thereafter, Adams tallied an individual victory in the 100 Backstroke event with a mark of 51.98.

Fano continued her solid afternoon for the Blue and Gold with wins in the 100 Breaststroke (1:09.26) and 200 Breaststroke (2:31.94).
Amanda Casamatta followed her teammates victories with a first place finish of her own in the 50 Freestyle (25.78).
Mount Union was still in the lead with five events remaining before the Blue Streaks made a furious rally, outscoring the Purple Raiders, 56-34, over the homestretch.
The comeback began when senior
Jane Verdi registered in the win column for the 500 Freestyle event with a dominating mark of 5:33.70. Verdi was in third place after eight laps but took charge with 200 yards to go and won convincingly.
Additionally,
Anne Crowley provided the Blue Streaks with a late boost thanks to a first place finish in the 100 Butterfly (1:00.88).
With the score 131-130 in Mount Union's favor, John Carroll needed one last surge in the final two races, and they got it. The final portion of the meet was highlighted by Adams in the 200 IM event. The talented sophomore did not disappoint when the pressure was shifted her way as she placed first with a time of 2:16.14. Fano and
Jessica Morrow provided important points, claiming third and fourth place to push the Blue Streaks ahead, 144-136.
The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Crowley, Connell, Casamatta, and
Teresa Prinster put the exclamation point on the win by touching the wall first with a time of 1:43.05.
