Women's Tennis Drops Hard-Fought Decision To Ohio Northern

Three matches in two days dot the John Carroll University women's tennis team's schedule. The first perhaps was the most important.

The last two remaining unbeaten teams in OAC play squared off on Friday afternoon in Ada, Ohio. John Carroll dropped a hard-fought 6-3 decision to the hosts.

John Carroll started the match strong picking up a pair of wins in doubles play.  Catherin Engel and Jennifer Stroyne topped Michelle Tuma and Meghan Letizia 8-4 at No. 2. Sisters Natalie Bourlas and Nicolette Bourlas picked up a key win at No. 1 doubles topping Christina Corbean and Brittany Toney 8-3.

The Blue Streaks needed to split the singles matches but luck would not bounce in the favor of JCU.

Natalie Bourlas picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win in No. 6 singles but that would be the lone victory for the Blue and Gold.

Tuma sealed the match at No. 1 singles topped Niciolette Bourlas in a three-set battle 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.

JCU fell to 8-6, 4-1 OAC while ONU improved to 15-3, 7-0 OAC.

John Carroll hosts Wittenberg and Capital on Saturday at Hathaway Brown School. John Carroll takes on the former at 9 a.m. and the latter at 3 p.m.
