Last Regular Season Road Trip Ends In Loss for JCU

Traveling has come to an end for John Carroll University.

In the final away game on the regular season slate, John Carroll drops an Ohio Athletic Conference clash with Capital University, 2-1. The loss drops John Carroll to 6-5-6 overall and a 3-2-2 mark in the OAC. JCU finishes with a 2-3-3 record from matches playing on the road.

John Carroll controlled pace and movement in the opening minutes of the first half. An offensive push peppered three shots on the Capital goal in the opening five minutes of the match. Bailey Fischer would supply the breakthrough tally for the Blue Streaks in the 10th minute.

A misplay in the Capital zone provided an open net for Fischer to push home the opening score. It would be Fishers ninth goal of the year that gave John Carroll a 1-0 lead early in the first stanza.

John Carroll would continue the offensive pressure through the majority of the first half. It would take a string of impressive offensive pushes from the hosting Crusaders to find an equalizer.

In the 37th minute, Carlee Murry provided the first scoring mark of the afternoon for Capital. Chloe Brown was credited with the assist that evened the scoring line a one goal a side.

Capital would take the lead in the 41st minute with Claire Quinn collected a loose ball in the John Carroll zone and pushed it home.

The hosting Crusaders would nurse a 2-1 lead into the halftime break.

Second half action was more of the same from both sides. Capital and John Carroll would trade opportunities on frame, but there was no decisive touch from the either attacking front.

John Carroll made a push in the final two minutes of the contest that provided some stress for the Capital defense, but there was no give.

The 2-1 score from the first half would be enough in the contest as Capital would hold on for the win.

With the loss, John Carroll moves to 6-5-6 and 3-2-2 on the year, still good for sixth place in the OAC.
