Points in the long jump, distance medley relay and 3000 meter run have the John Carroll men standing third at the conclusion of the first day of competition at the 2016 Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Day One ResultsAt the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center (DBRC) on the Marietta College campus, Mount Union has opened up a decent lead with 41 points, with Ohio Northern (32), John Carroll 926), Otterbein (24) and  Baldwin Wallace (22) rounding out the top five.
A lion's share of the points came courtesy of the 3000 meter run trio of
Matt Andrews,
Andrew Snyder and
Patrick O'Brien. Andrews captured the title in the 3K with a winning time of 8:32.95, holding off Heidelberg's Dylan Dombi who finished second in 8:33.91.
Snyder secured a sixth place finish at 8:46.55, while O'Brien claimed eighth in 8:56.13.
Earning all-conference accolades by finishing as the runner-up in the distance medley relay was the team ofÂ
Michael Hydzik,
Austin McIlvaine,
Will Cameron and
Ryan Scanlon, who completed the race in a time ofÂ
10:21.49. Ohio Northern won the event in 10:20.39.
Adam North came through with a scoring effort in the long jump. He posted a mark of 6.62 meters on his first jump, and that proved to be his best of the day as he finished in fifth place.
A majority of the scoring events will take place on day two of these championships, which begin Saturday at 10:00 am at the DBRC.Â
