Box Score Doubles play was the difference for John Carroll Saturday afternoon as the Blue Streaks defeated Ohio Wesleyan, 6-3, in Delaware, Ohio.

John Carroll won its eighth consecutive match to improve to 12-3 on the season.

The Blue Streaks won all three doubles matches as Lauren O'Malley and Madisyn Rini won 8-2 at #1, Catherine Engel and Jennifer Stroyne won 8-5 at #2, and Natalie Bourlas andn Nicolette Bourlas won 8-2 at #3.

Singles play was full of dramatic finishes, all of which seemed to go the way of the Battling Bishops. While O'Malley (#1), Katherine Devine (#5) and Stroyne (#6) all won in straight sets, the other three matches were decided in tiebreaker third sets. Rini rallied from a 6-4 loss in set one to win set two, 6-1, only to fall 10-6 in her #2 singles match with Adrienne D'Alewyn.

Nicolette Bourlas won her first set, 6-2, against Brooke Butterworth at #3 singles, but lost 6-3 in the second. In the tiebreaker, Butterworth prevailed 10-4.

Engel also suffered a close loss, falling 3-6 6-3 1-0 (10-7) in the #4 match.'
