Blue Streaks Get Back To Business In Victory Over Yeomen

It was all business for the Blue Streaks Saturday in Oberlin, Ohio.

On the heels of a successful training trip in Florida, the John Carroll men's swimming & diving team went to work and produced a 199-92 victory over the host Oberlin College Yeomen.

The Blue Streaks managed to claim first place in 13 of a possible 16 events this afternoon.

The started off in race number one, as JCU placed first and second in the 200 Medley Relay. The "A" relay of Jack Garrow, David Kirtek, Jackson Cooper and Matthew Ramsey finished the race in 1:38.92 while the "B" relay of Alec Bryson, Evan McGory, Corey Kehm and Tom Pacak clocked in at 1:45.22.

Ben Parker kicked off his final semester as a Blue Streak by winning the 1000 Free in 10:28.83, almost seven seconds better than the rest of the field.

Pacak and Alexander Nucerino were up next, and provided a 1-2 punch in the 200 Free. Pacak touched the wall in 1:48.45, while Nucerino recorded a time of 1:51.91.

Egan Paul claimed a win in the 100 Breast (1:04.94), as did Brian Hulseman in the 200 Fly (2:03.62). Corey Kehm was the 200 Fly runner-up (2:09.19).

When Ramsey touched first in the 50 Free (22.23), John Carroll had built a commanding 91-38 lead.

Ramsey would also win the 100 Free in 49.33

Ryan McClelland won the first of his two events this afternoon in diving on the one-meter board, scoring 293.55 points. It was his best scored of the season, marking the second time he has exceeded the Division III qualifying standard of 275 points.

On the three-meter board , McClelland won with a score of 286.65 points.

John Carroll had two 1-2-3 sweeps late in the meet. In the 500 Free, it was Pacak (4:59.40), Nucerino (5:08.80) and Hulseman (5:09.07) claiming the top three spots, while Cooper (53.64), Peter Neal (56.96) and Kehm (57.52) did the same in the 100 Fly.

Garrow (2:07.77) and Adam Bozsvai (2:09.78) did their part as well with a 1-2 punch in the 200 Breast.

In the final race of the day, the quartet of Hulseman, Cooper, Ramsey and Pacak won the 400 Free Relay in 3:19.14.
