Women's Basketball Drops Wednesday Contest To Host Baldwin Wallace

A second half rally by host Baldwin Wallace University proves to be the downfall for John Carroll women's basketball on Wednesday night as BW won 75-59 at Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea, Ohio.

Shmoo Pryor led the Blue Streaks with 19 points. Katlyn Spahar chipped in an impressive 18 points and 9 rebounds, while Chelbi Graham added eight points and seven rebounds.

Both sides traded baskets to open the game. After a Baldwin Wallace run late in the first quarter, the Blue Streaks responded with a strong run of their own. In the final two minutes of the opening quarter, John Carroll was on the leading end after the opening frame, 14-11.

The second quarter was the most impressive of the four put together by the visiting Blue Streaks.

The Blue Streaks outscored the Yellow Jackets, 21-4 in the quarter to take an early advantage in the quarter. Baldwin Wallace slowly gained momentum and reclaimed the lead 32-29 to end the quarter.

With the comeback in the second quarter, Baldwin Wallace took a lead that would not be relinquished.

The hosting Yellow Jackets combined two solid offensive quarters in the second half to secure victory.

A final buzzer finished off the 75-59 defeat of the Blue Streaks.

John Carroll moves to 4-12 (2-7 OAC) on the year and will look to a meeting with Marietta College on Saturday.
