JCU Men Gain Momentum Heading Into League Championships With Third Win In A Row

With the OAC Championships just weeks away,  the Blue Streaks had every reason to want to end the regular season on the most positive of notes. On Saturday at Wilmington College, John Carroll conquered the Quakers by a score of 116-84 for its third consecutive victory.

The positive momentum gained from sweeping Wooster and Baldwin Wallace last weekend continued this afternoon. The Streaks came out splashing, with both the "A" and "C" teams placing first and second, respectively, in the 200 Meter Medley Relay. The first place quartet of Jack Garrow, Mason Beck, Peter Neal, and Chris Soules finished the race in 1:53.12.

Brian Hulseman kept the winning streak going as he won the 800 Meter Freestyle with a time of 9:27.05. Adam Bozsvai and Alexander Nucerino swam in right after, claiming third and fourth place.

Tom Pacak decided to join the first place party as he won the 200 Meter Freestyle, finishing four seconds before any of his opponents. Patrick Folan and Colin Burke took third and fourth place to add some points to the board.

Ryan Singler, Neal, and Michael O'Meara covered second, fourth and fifth place in the 50 Meter Freestyle. Dane Bozsvai finished five seconds before his fellow swimmers, to triumph in the 200 Meter IM. Matt Ramsey and Evan Gainous also added to the board, claiming first and third in the 100 Meter Butterfly, with times of 1:04.07 and 1:06.35.

Pacak, Hulseman, and Charlie Braun kept the charge going in the 100 Meter Freestyle by occupying second, third and fourth place.

Making sure the pool stayed full of blue and gold, Garrow, Jackson Cooper, and Singler delivered a relentless 1-2-3 finish in the 100 Meter Back, as did Beck, Nucerino, and Patrick Folan in the 400 Meter Freestyle. Beck won with a time of 4:32.30.

For good measure, the John Carroll "B" relay touched first in the 400 Meter Free Relay in 1:41.80. The foursome that made it happen consisted of Cooper, Derek Rymers, Gainous and Pacak.

Now that the regular season is under wraps, the championship preparation will begin in earnest. JCU will look to defend its title at the Ohio Athletic Conferenec Championships, which begin Thursday, February 15, at the Ocasek Natatorium on the campus of the University of Akron.
