John Carroll Women Complete OAC Slate Undefeated With Win Today At Wilmington

With the competition against Wilmington being their last meet of the regular season, the John Carroll Blue Streaks knew what they had to accomplish. A win today would enable the JCU women to complete the Ohio Athletic Conference schedule undefeated for the third time in four years.

They did just that by defeating the Quakers, 113-84.

The nine-member John Carroll senior class was an astounding 16-1 against their league rivals in four seasons, with the lone loss a five-point setback against Ohio Northern on October 31, 2015. They won the last 11 consecutive conference meets in which they competed.

Starting the meet off on the right stroke, the "A", "C", and "B" relay teams swept the 200 Meter Medley Relay, placing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd respectively. The "A" team consisting of Tori Vale, Monica Rzepka, Gwyn Ledrick, and Emma Connell finished in 2:11.18.

With the momentum still going from their teammates, Allie McGreer and Marlene McGarrity finished the 800 Meter Freestyle in 10:37.91 and 10:51.42 to claim 1st and 2nd places.

1st place finishes were a common trend for the Blue Streaks as Maddie Dolce took 1st in the 200 Meter Freestyle with a time of 2:16.98. Shelbi Shearer and Connell touched the wall shortly after, placing 3rd and 4th.

With a 2-3-4 punch, Carmen Ferrante, Marisa Crisci, and Mckenzie Stine represented John Carroll in the 50 Meter Freestyle with times of 29.17, 30.06, and 30.29.

Jessica Morrow and Felice Ferrante placed 1st and 2nd respectively in the 200 Meter IM with times of 2:38.75 and 2:41.67. Hope Scherger and Sam Nagy went 1 and 2 in the 100 Meter Butterfly as well.

Adding some points to the board, Shearer, Olivia Talamo, and Felice Ferrante filled the pool with blue and gold as they claimed 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in the 100 Meter Freestyle. Vale, Amanda Alikhani, and Teresa Prinster did the same with their alike 2nd, 3rd, and 4th finishes in the 100 Meter Backstroke.

Dolce got her second 1st place finish of the day in the 400 Meter Freestyle with teammates Spenser Kale and Allie McGreer following in after at 2nd and 3rd place.

The Blue Streaks are now off for several weeks in preparation for the 2018 OAC Championships, to be held at the University of Akron starting Thursday, February 15th.
