After playing four very close sets in Tiffin, Ohio, the Blue Streaks fell short in their 3-1 loss to conference opponent Heidelberg University
Both teams came out ready to compete fiercely in the opening set. At the halfway mark, Heidelberg was leading 15-11. The Blue Streaks soon answered by scoring four straight points. The comeback would not be enough for JCU as Heidelberg edged off the Blue Streaks in set one with a final score of 25-23.
The Blue Streaks got back on track halfway through the second set, taking a five-point lead (15-10) over The Berg. Heidelberg was then forced to take a timeout after the Blue Streaks increased their lead to seven (18-11). Heidelberg then made a comeback, scoring 11 consecutive points which resulted in a four-point lead (22-18). After the rally, John Carroll forced the set into extra points after being tied at 25. The Blue Streaks were able to pull away and win by a score of 29-27.
Starting from the beginning of set 3, it was back and forth for both teams. Heidelberg had a slight edge by the halfway point (15-11), which continued on for the remainder of the set. The Berg would go on to win 25-22.
The fourth set of the night had a different pace than the rest. Heidelberg quickly took the momentum and did not look back. Heidelberg won the fourth and final of the night by a score of 25-13.
Blue Streaks who contributed to the JCU offense were
Cassi Calamunci with 19 kills and Ally Bartlone with 33 assists.
Sarah Calabrese also added 14 kills and 13 digs.

Caitlin Cianciolo led John Carroll in digs with 25.
After tonight's loss, the Blue Streaks are now 15-12 (2-6 OAC) on the season.
John Carroll will be back in action at home for senior day on Saturday, October 27th, at 1:00 P.M. against Wilmington College. Seniors Cianciolo and
Becca Fortsch will be honored prior to first serve.
