Cameron Bujaucius Earns OAC Women's Cross Country Freshman Of The Year Award

Cameron Bujaucius of the John Carroll women's cross country team was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year as announced today by the league office.

Bujaucius, who was the number one runner the whole season for the Blue Streaks, had an impressive campaign throughout. She began her career at the Sudeck Sundown Classic by earning a runner up finish in the race with a time of 15:45.9 in the 4k.

At the OAC Championships, Bujaucius earned the best time by a freshman in the 6k race. She finished 3rd overall, clocking in at 23:15.9, and earned first team all-conference accolades, helping her team to a 4th place finish.

Next, Bujaucius stepped up to the plate at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championships, placing 15th overall in a tough field. She finished with a time of 22:16.1 to earn all-region honors and supported her team with a ninth place finish overall.

By virtue of her regional finish, Bujaucius qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championships, hosted by the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh in Winneconne,Wisconsin.

On the grandest stage of all, Bujaucius placed 62nd overall with a time of 22:16.7, the sixth best time by a freshmen in the race. This put Bujaucius in the history books as the first freshman women from the JCU program to qualify for the Division III national championships.

Bujaucius is the first freshmen from the John Carroll women's program to be selected for this award.
