John Carroll head coach Shaun Keenan does not look to pad his record or his team's with easy wins.

The three-time defending Ohio Athletic Conference champions seek to find the best teams to play so that the league schedule looks less daunting.

JCU returned from its annual Florida trip with just one win in five tries, and four of those five tries were against non-Division III foes.

The Blue Streaks started off with a 9-0 loss to Lee University, a Division II opponent from of all places Cleveland, Tennessee. That loss was followed by a 7-0 setback to Division I opponent and fellow Jesuit school Creighton.

JCU collected its lone win against Ave Maria University, an NAIA school located in the town of the same name in Florida. The Blue Streaks fell behind 2-1 in doubles play with Tyler Cole and David Sinense claiming the lone point. But a furious rally in singles netted the win. Adi Jha won a 12-10 third set tiebreak for what proved to be the winning point. Cole, Dillon O'Brien and Andrew Triner also won big matches for JCU.

The Blue Streaks then faced their lone Division III rival, Saint John's of Minnesota. The Johnnies proved tough as JCU fell, 8-1. Cole and Sinense won the lone point at #2 doubles.

The trip concluded with a 5-0 loss to Division I Norfolk State. Cole and Triner won their match at #2 doubles but at the Division I level, doubles counts as one point, so if a team wins two of the doubles matches, that team collects the doubles point.

John Carroll is now 2-6 on the season.
