Program Record Outburst Carries Blue Streaks To Fifth Victory Of The Season

Box Score The John Carroll women's lacrosse team continues to set new program standards this season. In their 29-10 win over Fredonia State on Thursday night, the Blue Streaks tied or broke three program records.

Asa team, John Carroll set a new program-high for single-game goals. Meghan Harte tied the single-game goals record (9), while Brooke McQuinn broke her own record for most draw controls in a game with 16. Senior Grace Curatolo also passed the 300 career points record, becoming the first Blue Streak to achieve that magical milestone.

The Blue Streaks continue to act quick on offense, outscoring the Blue Devils 9-0 in the first thirteen minutes of the game. Fredonia would then answer with a 5-3 run of their own to force a John Carroll timeout 11 minutes left on the clock (12-5), However, goals from Colleen Grombala, Sophie Brandimarte, Gina Vilsack and Curatolo shifted the momentum back in favor of the Blue Streaks to give JCU a 16-8 score at the half.

John Carroll remained in the lead for the entire second half, scoring 13 goals and forcing a running clock in the last 25 minutes of the day. Harte led the Blue Streaks with five goals, while Vilsack added three coals. Anneke Carlo also added a pair.

Despite sharing time in goal with Caroline Smith and Megan Sarles, Elyssa Zablo took home the win to improve to a 5-0 start of the season.

The Blue Streaks finished their trip to Port Charlotte with a 2-0 record to improve to 5-0 on the season. which marks the longest winning streak to start a season in program history.

JCU will next travel back to Ohio to face Oberlin on Wednesday, March 14 at 6:00 p.m.
