Senior Day festivities for the inaugural class of JCU women's lacrosse proved to withstand the rain, and display a complete effort for 60 minutes of action.

The Blue Streaks extended their winning streak to three games, and improved to 11-1 overall (4-1 OAC) with this afternoon's 24-2 home win against Muskingum University.

The Blue Streaks eclipsed the 20-goal threshold for the eighth time this season, as senior Gina Vilsack scored a game-high eight goals, and fellow senior Grace Curatolo collected eight points off of six assists and two scores.

It was all JCU in the first half, as the Blue and Gold scored 15 goals in the opening stanza with a dominant offensive outing.

Junior Alexis Guage sparked the scoring spree for the Blue Streaks, scoring 15 seconds from the opening draw control. Vilsack led the way scoring six opening-half goals, with Curatolo, senior Meghan Harte and Guage all adding two scores a piece.

Curatolo added four assists in addition to her two goals, leading the Blue Streaks with six points in the first half.

At the break, JCU out-shot the Muskies 29-2, and won 14 out of 16 draw controls. MU goaltender Kate Shamel saved 10 shots.

The Blue Streaks took their 15-0 run into the second half, with senior Mary Jo Murino scoring for the first time this season 2:10 into the second half.

Harte added three more second-half goals, before Muskingum's Kaeleigh Norvet gave the Fighting Muskies their first goal of the match at the 9:15 mark.

Sophomore Colleen Grombala answered the Muskie's first goal, netting an unassisted score two minutes later. Sophomore Brooke McQuinn and MU's Norvet exchanged goals down the stretch, as Vilsack put an exclamation point on her career day with a final goal with 0:34 remaining.

In net, senior Caroline Smith and freshman Kaleight Kotula put together a complete game effort for JCU. Smith secured three saves in 52:07 of defensive action.

With the loss, Muskingum falls to 2-11 (0-6 OAC).

The Blue Streaks continue their three-game home-stand with a Wednesday evening match with the Denison University Big Red. Opening draw is set for 6:30 p.m. from Don Shula Stadium.
